CAUSAL CLAUSES
Causal clauses are clauses which start with the word ‘because’ or ‘since’.
They are formed in 2 ways:
‘quod’ followed by an indicative verb
‘cum’ followed by a subjunctive verb
E.g. cum nox iam appeteret, dormivimus = Because night was now approaching, we went to sleep.
Be careful to not confuse ‘cum’ + subjunctive with the proposition ‘cum’ taking the accusative case.
