RESULT CLAUSES
As the name suggests, a result clause tells us the result of the action of the main verb.
There are 6 signpost words to be aware of:
tam = so
tantus, -a, -um = so great, so big
tot = so many
adeo = so much, to such an extent
ita = to such an extent, so
talis, -e = such, of such a kind
The signpost is then followed by the latin word ‘ut’ and then a subjunctive.
E.g. servus tam celeriter cucurrit ut nemo eum capere posset = The slave ran so fast that no one was able to catch him.
